Winter Wonderland - It is in Scotland!!

Oh my goodness !!! what a day we have had here in the West of Scotland. everything has come to a standstill

The roads are gridlocked, the airports are closed, the trains and buses are no longer running and no one can even venture outside their front door.  We have had the heaviest snowfall that I've ever seen here and believe me I've lived a long time.!!!!   I cannot believe how bad it is. There is no public transport so people who made it to work this morning are stranded as the snow started about 10.00am and it hasn't stopped since.  Visibility is down to near zero. Thousands of people are stranded in cars and even some schoolchildren are having to spend the night in their schools because they couldn't get transport to take them home.

I was supposed to go grocery shopping today as we are down to the bare minimum, so it's black tea and coffee, no bread, no sugar and the few things I keep for emergencies in the freezer have gone !!!!! we are now using the few items such as dry pasta, tinned tomatoes, soup, beans etc that we have in the cupboard.

But at least we are at home and have heat and a bed to sleep in!!!!!!!

Anyway enough of my meanderings, here's a little card I've made for a few challenges.  I followed the sketch over at The Sugar Bowl which has the option of snowflakes and I've used the adorable Winter Wonderland image. Coloured her with TH distress inks, used some wonderful papers from dovecraft's Jolly Holly Christmas.  My full recipe for the card is below this post.

I do hope that you are all in a safe place if you're having this dreadful weather.  I'll pop back later after I concoct something up for dinner.  In the mean time have a wonderful evening.

  3. Suzi your card is gorgeous !
and poor you , I know how it feels , when i was a child we lived miles from anywhere and we got snowed in - the snow drifts ran upto the bedroom window - we were a family of 8 and as terrible as this sounds mum and dad had no choice - we had to eat our rabbits and chickens .... oh yes it was that bad the army dropped food in the end to some of the other villagers ,but our house was too romote. Not sure what would have happened if we hadnt done that desparate measure - the snow lasted weeks .

keep warm and dont forget if you have flour, yeast - have a look in the cupboard and see if you can try making your own bread ..

hope your all ok - we saw it all on the news.
    love

  4. Such a cute card and perfect for a winter wonderland! Sorry to hear about all the people stranded in the snow and praying that it doesn't endanger their lives! Glad to hear you are safe and snug if a little hungry. It seems winter has come very early this year. It's going down to 40 in Miami tonight and upstate Florida has a hard freeze predicted, going down to the low 20's - burrr!!

    Warm hugs,
    Linda
