A Special Mother

I'm back with my 2nd post today, I want to show you a very emotional card from me, it's taken me days to assemble. I knew what I wanted to do from following a few of challenge blog themes this week. It was just putting it together that was my problem.!!! Sadly I lost my Mum many years ago ( I was only 14) and since becoming an adult have always bought her a card and her favourite flowers, I keep them up for a few days in my bedroom.

This year is a little different, it's the first time I've ever actually made her a hand crafted card, and I wanted it to be really special. So this is my finished tribute, and I must say I do like the finished article. I'm sure she would too.

The image was just a sketch with no colour on it, I used my pebbles inc green, gold & pink chalks
to give it a vintage look. I then used my olive & burgandy Plaid blending chalks to colour the lace (which was white) the effect is quite striking. I used them to colour the two nesties inside the card which again was plain white card and just didn't match the theme. I will write a message on this, but that's private.

The rest of the embellishments and the recipe can be seen at the bottom of the post.

These are the Challenges that gave me the incentive to create this card:

1. Simon Says Challenge: Vintage with Flowers.
2.Paperplay Challenge: Mother
3. Allsorts Challenge: Mother
4. Digital Tuesday Challenge: Mum
5. Crafty Catz Challenge: Fancy Edge & Ribbon (ribbon is on the Tag)
6. Crafty Cardmaker Challenge: Colour - split complimentary, you will have to pop
over and have a look at the colour schemes available.
7. Tellen's Place: Anything Goes.
8 Abc Challenge: O = One paper
9. Everybody's Art Challenge: Easel Card
10. Polka Doodles Challenge: A shaped card.
11. Stamp Something Challenge: Designer paper, ribbon, button

Thank you to all the challenges above for your inspiration this week.

Anya is Optimistically Pink

Good Morning, Hope you are all having a lovely weekend and that the sun is shining where you are. This is my card for
ONE STOP CRAFT CHALLENGE and this week our challenge has been set by the lovely Itzuvit and she wants you all to be...... Optimistically Pink
Pink to be the primary colour of your project.

So I've chosen Anya (shine) to portray my optimism that Summer will be here eventually. Some wonderful papers from Brenda Walton from K&Co and papermania Words, I used my Tag Curler for the first time with the little birthday wishes tag instead of a sentiment. The little flowers are actually cream satin ribbon, I cut the flowers off individually and coloured them with my Promarker pale pink and carnation pink pens. It worked a treat.
Do pop over and have a look at the gorgeous optimistically pink creations from the rest of the Design Team.

This weeks prize is a £10.00 voucher to spend at One Stop Cards Crafts where there is a fab selection of goodies to choose from.

Thank you so much for visiting me, come back and see me soon. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Hugs Suzi xx

I've taken some elements from other challenges to create this card and they are:

1. Papertake Weekly Challenge: I've used the fab Sketch
2. ABC Designs Challenge: Are looking for Birthday's this week
3. Crafty Catz Challenge: Want fancy edge and ribbon
4. Cute Card Thursday Challenge: Want Ribbons this week.

It's Black & White + challenges

Hi Folks, Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend. The snow has disappeared now, oh but it's bitterly cold, that north east wind is blowing a gale. I popped out this morning and couldn't wait to get back indoors to the warm.

I've made this card for a few challenges . I bought a sheet of these images at my local craft store at least 6 months ago - I found them a few days ago whilst on a massive tidy and clean up campaign. Thought this one would be ideal for the following challenges.

1. Fab n Funky Challenge: Are looking for Black & White this week
2. Incy Wincy Designs Challenge: Are looking for Texture on our projects and they are also having a fab Blog Hop which is open until Sunday.
3. Creative Inspirations Challenge: Are looking for monochromatic this week.

5. Lexi's Creations Challenge: Anything goes this week. Lexi has a little quiz going at the moment, why not pop over and see what it's all about.

C.R.A.F.T. Challenge 39 - Ribbon & Glitter

Good Morning fellow Bloggers, It's that time of the week for another Challenge over at C.R.A.F.T. This weeks theme is a nice easy one, use Ribbon and Glitter on your project.

We are being sponsored this week by Angela from Toucan Scraps she has some superb kits in her store. I've used some of Angela's gorgeous DP for my card.

I made this for a friend who is quite unwell at the moment so I didn't want to smother it in glitter, the ribbon has lovely glittered gold thread running through it with sweet little seed pearls. I've used a Freebie image from Fred she Said that I got months ago and coloured it with my ProMarkers. My MS new border punch and some Nesti's. It's quite a simple card but I like it, and I'm sure my friend will too.

Thank you so much for visiting me, do pop over and take a look at the other lovely projects from my friends on the Dt. Hugs Suzi xx

Challenges I'm entering:

1. The Pink Elephant Challenge: I followed the lovely sketch but turned it on its side.
2. Pile It On Challenge: This week are looking for a Get Well Soon Project.
3. Creative Card Crew Challenge: Are also looking for a Get Well Soon Project.
4. Tellen's Place Challenge: Have a theme of Anything Goes. There is also a free image from the lovely Terry, so do pop over say hello and tell her Suzi sent you.

For Mum

Hello, I've made this card for my Grandson's to give to their Mum for Mothers Day. They helped me design it, they chose the papers, colours and the image. I just advised them on a few extras that could be added. I think their Mum will love it.

They chose Tilda and the colour of her dress from my ProMarkers, I know it's not the right shade of pink but who am I to argue with two 6yr old boys. I showed them my Nestie's , MS punches, spellbinder flowers and they chose what they wanted. They haven't seen the finished card yet. They are coming for Dinner on Thursday I will hopefully get their approval then. I added the balloon and glittered it with stickles and used metallic green thread for the string.

That's me for today, I now need to start my 4 Dt cards for the coming weeks challenges. So I see you all later. Do have a lovely evening.

Simon Says Blog Hop

Hello Friends, Over at Simon Says Stamps Challenge they are having a BLOG HOP in celebration of the new members of the DT. I hopped around on Weds & Thurs and I must say it was great fun, the Design Team cards are just to die for. Every one of their creations are delicious, the theme this week is a recipe of 2 papers- 3 embellishments and 1 Image.

The cherry on the cake is that there are some fantastic prizes to be won, Heidi will be drawing the winner next Thursday so you still have plenty of time to enter. Just click on the link and hey presto you are there.

I think just about everything on this card is new. I was feeling a bit yucky over the weekend and come Tuesday I was climbing the walls - I needed some fresh air and a browse - where did I go - yes you've guessed - my local craft shop!!! well they were having a sale!!! I bought this gorgeous little stamp designed by Hetty Meeuwsen. There are 4 in the collection, I'll show you the other one that I bought in the morning.

I've used two of my new Martha Stewart punches, the butterfly punch and the small flower punch, I bought them on line along with 6 others, well they were on special offer.!! My little tea roses came from Wild Orchid Crafts, and my papers are from My mind's Eye.

My large flower is handmade by me!! I am so proud of it, I bought some beautiful glittery paper flowers pre Christmas made by K&co, but they were quite expensive so I decided to try and make my own. After a few miserable attempts I got the knack of it and after folding my paper like we used to do in school many years ago it worked. I then used my scallop scissors on the ends of the paper to get the effect I wanted. I also added some stickles to give it a bit of glitz. I'm really pleased how it turned out.

Thank you for stopping by for a visit, I hope you will come back and see me again soon.

Hugs Suzi xx

I've used plain card for the basic layering and embossed them using CB folders Script & Swiss dots. The scalloped shape of the black background card has been made using my spectrum shape scissors. It's the first time I've ever tried to colour black hair with my promarkers and I think in hindsight I could have gone a shade darker, but hey ho it's done now.

Thanks so much for visiting and hopefully you will come back and see me real soon.
