Quixotic New Year Candy

Hi everyone, I just had to tell you about the wonderful Mystery Candy that Elaine from Quixotic Paperie is giving everyone a chance of winning with a value of approx £40.00, now how great is that. All you need do is pick out one of your favourite special projects of the year and leave a comment over at Quixotic Challenge, entries must be in by Midnight on 5th January. You can click on the named link or the blinkie above and hey presto you are there.

It wasn't easy but I chose this particular one, I made this for a very special friend who was and still is going through some health problems. She loved the card and the candy box filled with her favourite sweets.

Anniversary Card for DH

Hi Friends, This is the anniversary card I've made for my DH, we will have been married for 36years on New Years Eve. I wanted to make him a really fussy, fancy card for the simple reason that this is my first ever hand made anniversary card to him, because this time last year I was not a crafter in any shape or form. But I held myself back. My hubby is not into fancy or fussy so I plumped for just a nice simple but effective card (I hope !!). I'm sure he will love it as he is ultra tolerant of my new found hobby.

I thought this card appropriate for two challenge:

1. The Crafty Pad Challenge: Debbie would like to see stitching this week, I'm afraid mine is only faux stitches as I don't have a machine (yet!!) Debbie has a call out for a couple of new DT members to work with her fab new digital images. The call is open until 11th January.
2. ABC Challenge: The letter for this week is K which = Kissing. Don't forget that the new sister ABC Christmas Challenge blog starts today the 30th December. So pop on over and have a peek.

Thank you so much for visiting I hope you all have a Fab New Year.

Passion for ProMarker Mega Christmas Challenge

I made this little notebook for the Passion for ProMarkers Challenge. This is my first time entering this challenge. I only started using ProMarkers about 6 weeks ago, I was always a water colour girl, but I must admit since finding out about them through visiting other blogs I wanted to give them a go, so I bought the skin tones and accents pack. I haven't looked back since, although I still have a lot to learn, I'll just keep practicing. I am slowly building my collection. Anyway I digress. The theme of this Mega Christmas challenge which runs until the 5th of January is to make anything but a card but it still must have a Christmas Theme and you can enter as many times as you like.

I made this for myself. This will be my "To Do" Christmas book for 2010. Thank you so much for visiting me, I do appreciate your comments and love reading them.

Thank you easel card

Hi, here is the card I've made today using some of my new crafting tools and also recycling some old cards that I've received. I'm not too over sentimental when it comes to keeping cards, Sorry but that's just me, I'd rather recycle than keep. I always display them for an appropriate amount of time and then if there is anything reusable on them I take the them apart the rest goes into my recycling paper carton. Here are the challenges that my card is entering.

1. Just Magnolia Challenge: I followed the gorgeous sketch and used a Magnolia Tilda stamp. The challenge is open until Jan 7th.
2. Magical Crafts Challenge: This is a fortnightly challenge and the theme for this one is Thank You. It's being sponsored by Incy Wincy Designs who have some fab digi images.

My First Hand made boxes

Hi Friends, hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day. I made my first ever boxes to hold gifts and an easel card for my Daughter. I used white card stock for the easel box and kept it very simple with a snowflake peel off and some gorgeous ribbon. The tag is decorated with peel off sentiment and a blue rose and gold leaves. The other box containing her gift was made using pale green card stock and I used rub ons from craft world and some wired ribbon with a red rose in the centre. My daughter loved the boxes and the gifts inside.

I am entering them into Allsorts Challenge: The theme for this week is anything but a card.

hope you all have a nice Boxing day recovering from the festivities.

Gift Tags

This lovely image was a freebie from Incy Wincy Designs Challenge: I printed it off twice to make a couple of gift tags for my 5yr old twin Grandsons bags of goodies, the only difference between them is the colour of the gift box that Santa is holding, Ross likes blue and Aaron likes purple (don't ask!) A big thank you to Heather for the download. I used Promarkers, Sakura Souffle pens along with Sakura Tiara glitter pens for the colouring. I used my pinking scissors to give them a scalloped edge after sticking them to red card. They are quite large 12cm x 8cm

So instead I'm tucked up in the warm making the last of my Christmas Cards, the last few are the ones that will be hand delivered. Only 4 more and that's me done. I made this little cutie for one of my nieces and took the colours and themes from a few challenges. Thank you for visiting, it's always appreciated, I hope you all have a very very Merry Christmas.

Totally Distaught

Hi Friends, I woke up this morning feeling really good, it's my husbands birthday today and next week is Christmas then on the 31st Dec it will be our 36th Wedding Anniversary, on Jan 17th it's my birthday. So in October I booked a surprise holiday for John & myself for a 2 week all inclusive 5*treat in a warm climate. He knew nothing about it, I was going to tell him at Christmas time.

This morning I woke up to the news that the airline I had booked the full holiday with has gone into receivership (Globespan). All flights grounded and no chance of any of their planes taking off again. Now thank heavens it was ATOL covered.

But that doesn't help, I know I will get the money back, but I had scheduled our celebration Month around the surprise, of course I had to tell him today, oh what a disappointment, now it looks like I'll be filling in forms and sending proof of payment, which means a trip to the bank for statements etc etc. Goodness knows when it will get resolved and in this monetary climate it's not as if I can just pluck another £1500 out of thin air.

So it looks like I'll be around in Jan and not sunning myself somewhere on a beach.

Hubby's Secret Surprise + Challenges

Hi Friends, It's taken a few days to make this card and gift for my Hubby. I had to do it under the cover of darkness so to speak. You see we share the same spare room, half for his hobby
(clock making) and half for me (Crafting) had to sneak in after he'd gone to bed and do a little at a time and then hide it. As you can see I've converted an old pear wine perry box to hold a bottle of champagne and a bottle of his favourite wine (chardonnay) I've also bought him his fav chocs (match makers) Don't worry he won't find out, he never comes on to my blog, only when invited.

Anyway the project has fallen into 9 challenges. But started out as my DT example for the challenge over at C.R.A.F.T. this week, which is a FREE CHOICE, we know how busy you are at this time of the year, so this will give you the opportunity to enter the project you are already working on.

I used a technique for the swirl that I found on the lovely Stefs (Glitter babe) blog. I cut up a can of pepsi max, flattened it out and used it in my big shot with the sizzix original die corner flourish, I used the inside of the can and not the patterned side so it would co ordinate with the silver and black ribbon. I also used snow-tex all around the lovely little whimsy seal stamp to give it some texture. I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out.

I am also entering my project into the following challenge.

1. Creative Card Crew Challenge: The theme this week is anything goes. There is also a call out for new DT members, so if you would like a go do pop over and enter.
2. Creative Inspirations Challenge: The theme this week has been set by the lovely Jude and is a Christmas Gift, you can create anything you wish but not a card.
3. The Crafty Pad Challenge: This week the theme is a nice simple one, just create a Christmas card, there is some exciting news on the way from Debbie, next Sunday she is going to be showing us a new stamp/stamps. Can't wait to see what's in store.
4. The Pink Elephant Challenge: This week the theme is Winter/Christmas. Nice and simple especially as we are all pushed for time etc.
5. Secret Crafters Saturday Challenge: This week it's SNOW. Use your imagination as long as there is snow somewhere on your project. I've used half a tub on my card. Hehehe
6. Sophisticat Challenge: The lovely Avril has set the challenge this week and again it's Christmas/Anything goes. A Card, altered project, gift, so long as it's new and follows the theme.
I can't quite believe that Lisa (blog owner) is now at challenge 15, it only feels like a few weeks since the challenge was launched. Time just seems to have disappeared.
7. Our Creative Coner Challenge: The theme this week is The Holiday are Here, create a project with a holiday theme, Christmas, Hannukah.
8. Whimsy Stamp Challenge: This weeks theme is Black & White. Simple.

Thank you for visiting, I know how busy you all are with preparations for Christmas. I really do appreciate your comments and views. Happy Holidays Everyone.
